Distance Learning
The distance learning program at the Blackfeet Community College is in its early stages. The college offered online courses for the first time, spring 2004 and is entering its fourth semester in offering online courses for the community. The program started off only offering very few courses and that number has slowly grown to twenty courses. The distance education coordinator is proud to announce that Beginning Blackfeet Language, who is taught by Marvin Weatherwax, will be offered for the first time online in fall 2005.
BCC now uses the Moodle Open Source course management sytsem. This software allows the college to provide high quality distance education at a very affordable price.
Registration – The distance learning program allows students to enroll until the SECOND day of class of each semester. The coordinator and instructor will have your username and password for your class. Please see either one of them immediately to get this information.
Orientation – There is a mandatory orientation for “new” students enrolling in the online courses. Please see the distance education coordinator for specific times and dates.
Recommendations – It is a recommendation that a student owns a personal computer which has access to high speed internet.
The program could not exist if it was not for the wonderful faculty and staff that play a major role in this endeavor. Teaching online was very difficult in the beginning for the faculty but everyone continued to make adjustments and is doing an extraordinary job that is why we are proud to offer the following classes.

IIf you are interested in enrolling in our courses then please contact Deana McNabb at the Registrar’s Office. Her number is 406-338-5441 x248 and email address is deana_mcnabb@bfcc.org. Or contact the Cheri Valdovino, Distance Education Coordinator at 406-338-5441 x 218 and email address is ckick@bfcc.org.
Enrolling in the online course/s is a great opportunity for people who work full time. A successful student will spend double the amount of time that you would in a face – to – face course. The coordinator encourages a student to take this opportunity serious because experiencing online learning can be a huge part of obtaining higher education in rural Montana.
